Thread lift in Stuttgart
A more youthful appearance without surgery
The thread lift in Stuttgart, also known as threadlifting, is a modern, minimally invasive treatment for skin tightening and wrinkle reduction – without any surgical procedure. This method is particularly popular with patients who want a fresher and younger appearance but want to avoid a classic facelift. The treatment is suitable for various areas of the body, in particular the face, neck and décolleté, but the upper arms and knees can also be treated effectively. The gentle use of specially developed threads achieves a lifting effect that is both immediately visible and stabilizing in the long term.
Compared to surgical procedures, the thread lift involves a significantly lower risk and shorter downtime. Patients are usually able to go out in public again after just a few days. Depending on the type of thread and individual factors, the effect lasts up to 18 months. The natural effect deserves special mention: there is no mask-like appearance, but a harmoniously rejuvenated overall impression.
The threads used are made of polydioxanone (PDO) – a material that has been used in surgery for decades and dissolves completely in the body after a few months. A distinction is made between mono threads, which stimulate the body's own collagen formation, and barbed lifting threads, which provide immediate tightening. The appropriate combination is selected individually depending on skin type, region and desired result. This makes the thread lift a highly personalizable treatment with excellent results.
In our practice, we use exclusively molded barbed threads, whose barbs are integrated into the thread rather than cut into it. This results in improved anchoring in the tissue, which increases durability and enables a more even result. Both the immediate effect of the traction and the long-term build-up of collagen ensure a fresh, natural appearance – without a scalpel.

Reasons for a thread lift
A thread lift is ideal for people who notice incipient or moderate skin laxity and want to counteract it in a targeted way – without longer downtime or the risks of surgery. It is suitable for:
- Wrinkles on the face (e.g. nasolabial folds, marionette lines)
- sagging cheeks (jowls)
- sagging skin on the neck or chin
- skin laxity on the upper arms or décolleté
The thread lift can also achieve excellent results in combination with other procedures such as PRP (vampire facelift), hyaluronic acid treatments or Sculptra.
The thread lift procedure
Before the treatment, a detailed consultation takes place in which your skin structure is analyzed and the suitable thread material and technique are determined individually. The procedure itself usually takes between 45 and 60 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.
The threads are inserted into the subcutaneous fatty tissue using fine cannulas. With barbed threads, the lift is then achieved by targeted traction on the barb structures until the desired tightening is achieved. The ends of the threads are cut off under the skin – only the result is visible, not the procedure itself.
After the procedure, you should avoid strong facial expressions, intense physical exertion and sun exposure for a few days. Slight swelling or a feeling of tightness is normal and usually subsides within a few days.
Cost of thread lift treatment
The cost of a thread lift in Stuttgart depends on the number and type of threads used and the extent of the treatment.
- Mono threads, which primarily serve to stimulate collagen, start at approx. €500
- Barbed threads with a lifting effect start from approx. €1,200
In a personal consultation, we will be happy to draw up a transparent cost plan tailored to your individual wishes and anatomical conditions.

Risks and side effects
The thread lift is considered a very safe method. Possible side effects include slight swelling, redness or small bruises at the injection sites. A temporary feeling of tightness in the treated area may also occur. These side effects are usually harmless and disappear after a short time. As PDO threads are completely biodegradable, no thread removal is required.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about thread lifts:
Which areas are suitable for a thread lift in Stuttgart?
In principle, almost all regions of the body can be treated, with the face and neck region accounting for the largest share. This is mainly because the skin and subcutaneous tissue in these locations are subject to age-related changes earlier than other regions, due to their comparatively high exposure to environmental influences such as UV light and their complex structure. Sagging and drooping areas of the face such as the cheeks, jowls, a blurred jawline, marionette lines, vertical lines on the upper and lower lip (lip lines), and sagging skin on the neck or décolleté can be treated particularly well. Other regions include the fronts of the thighs above the knees, where, depending on predisposition and especially in slim people, age-related skin laxity with transverse skin folds can develop. By incorporating complementary treatment approaches such as injections with hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse), these can often be treated successfully.
Which threads are used for a thread lift in Stuttgart?
The most widespread are so-called PDO threads, which consist of fully absorbable and very well tolerated polylactic acid. I also use exclusively these threads, which are of extremely high product quality. Depending on skin condition and the desired effect, different types of threads are used, which can be divided into smooth threads (mono or twin threads) and barbed lifting threads. The very fine mono threads are used mainly for wrinkle treatment and to reinforce the connective tissue support structure, arranged in a linear or spiral pattern. With twin threads, two threads are twisted together, achieving correspondingly greater effects. Barbed threads, on the other hand, are used for targeted tightening, contouring or lifting of certain regions such as the cheeks, the jawline or the outer eyebrows.
How is a thread lift performed in Stuttgart?
As with any treatment or operation, it begins with a detailed consultation including information on options, prospects and potential risks, as well as a precise analysis of the region to be treated. After thorough disinfection, the desired traction vectors, i.e. the directions in which the threads are to be inserted, are first marked. I will explain the concept to you in detail in front of the mirror.
If tightening is desired and barbed threads are therefore used, an almost painless local anesthetic is first given in the area of the planned entry point (on the face often in front of the ear or the temple region, for the neck usually at the level of the angle of the jaw). The skin is then opened at a single point and the barbed threads are slowly advanced through a special cannula in the direction of the marked vectors to the target point. This is usually completely painless, although slight irritation may occasionally occur. After all threads have been precisely positioned and aligned, the overlying skin is massaged in a special way and the tissue is tightened in the desired direction by gentle traction with the help of the small barbs and special structure of the threads. Finally, the protruding thread ends are cut off and buried under the skin, and the entry point is disinfected again and covered with a small plaster if necessary. You may then cool the treated areas for a few minutes before going home. When using the very fine mono threads (for wrinkle treatment), local anesthesia is only advisable by applying a special anesthetic cream. After disinfection, the threads are also inserted in the desired direction through very fine cannulas. If appropriate, this treatment can be combined with PRP treatment (platelet-rich plasma), which further enhances the rejuvenating and regenerative effect. In contrast to barbed threads, no further measures are required. After a final cleansing, further disinfection and cooling, the treatment is complete.
Can a thread lift be combined with other aesthetic treatments?
Yes, very well in fact! With the right technique, inserting the threads builds a support structure in the connective tissue, which in turn stimulates collagen synthesis. If the treatment is supplemented by targeted injections of volumizers such as hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxylapatite (also a substance that occurs naturally in the body and is absorbable), areas such as the cheeks or the neck region can be effectively built up on the basis of this support structure, leading to a synergistic effect with an additional rejuvenating effect. Depending on the circumstances, complementary treatment with hyaluronic acid can be carried out at the same time as the thread lift or at a certain interval. The same applies to all treatments that improve skin firmness and vitality by stimulating regenerative effects. These include in particular medical microneedling, PRP or the use of biostimulators to stimulate collagen, such as polylactic acid (Sculptra).
Can a thread lift be combined with other aesthetic treatments?
Immediately after the thread lift, regular cooling for 1–2 days is advisable to contain possible swelling. For 24 hours, you should not apply any cosmetic products or care creams to the treated areas in order to prevent inflammation or infection. General physical rest and no sports are recommended for 1 week. Contact sports should be paused for 3 weeks. You should also avoid direct and intense sunlight/solariums and saunas for at least 1 week. For a week, avoid strong facial movements, especially opening your mouth too wide, which may cause pain or even cause the threads to slip. You should also avoid foods that require a lot of chewing or biting force during this period. Facial treatments or massages must not be carried out for 2–3 weeks.
