In the field of aesthetic facial treatments, and especially in the context of wrinkle treatment and skin rejuvenation, there is no getting around the terms collagen, hyaluronic acid and Botox®.

But what about Sculptra® and polylactic acid? As is well known, the firmness and elasticity of the skin decrease with age. The skin becomes not only thinner but also more wrinkled, as important structural elements such as the skin's collagen-elastin framework become depleted. As a result, the skin sags and loses volume, radiance and youthful freshness.

A key building block that provides the skin with the necessary firmness and strength is the structural protein collagen. With age, the body increasingly loses the ability to produce this substance, which is important for good skin quality, itself. This is exactly where Sculptra® treatment comes in. Sculptra® is polylactic acid. As a potent biostimulator, it has an extremely stimulating effect on the body's own collagen synthesis within the skin. It is therefore not just about injecting wrinkles, reducing individual wrinkles or pure volume restoration, as hyaluronic acid or botulinum toxin (Botox®) can do.
With Sculptra®, we achieve a completely different dimension of skin regeneration and rejuvenation that strengthens and tightens the skin gently from within and, above all, in the long term.

Advantages of Sculptra® treatment

Skin rejuvenation
Polylactic acid (Sculptra®) particularly stimulates fibroblasts. These essential connective tissue cells of the skin are indispensable for the firmness and density of the skin and produce, among other things, the important structural and supporting proteins collagen and elastin. The more collagen and elastin the skin has, the firmer and more resilient it is. Sculptra® can therefore gently improve skin quality across the board, sustainably and in the long term, from within.

More volume and radiance

Even though Sculptra® is not a pure filler like hyaluronic acid or Radiesse®, the significant increase in collagen makes the skin noticeably firmer and tighter, and it gains radiance and youthfulness.

Long-term results
With Sculptra® treatment, we achieve results that sometimes last longer than 3 years (!). It is important to understand that the effect extends over a long period of time, so there is no “immediate effect”; instead, the first results can be seen after a period of 3–4 months. It is therefore very important to see the treatment as a course that necessarily includes several planned sessions in order not only to achieve the desired effects but also to maintain them in the long term.

Frequently asked questions about Sculptra® treatment

How does Sculptra® treatment work?

At the start of the treatment, the skin area to be treated is carefully cleansed and disinfected. On request and depending on the region, an anesthetic cream can increase comfort during the treatment, but in most cases this is not necessary. The skin is then opened minimally with a fine needle and the substance is injected into the skin via an atraumatic blunt cannula. After the injection, the skin is disinfected again and then gently massaged using a moisturizing face cream.

Which skin type or age is Sculptra® treatment suitable for?

In principle, polylactic acid can be used on all skin types. The treatment achieves the best and most lasting effects when the first signs of skin aging and loss of firmness are already visible. The “ideal patient” is usually between 30 and 60 years old, although this must be assessed individually by the specialist.

Which skin areas are particularly suitable for Sculptra® treatment?

These include the entire lateral and lower cheek region up to the front of the ears, the temples, and the lower jaw and chin region. Not suitable for Sculptra® treatment are the mouth region, the forehead and generally areas where the face moves a lot due to facial expressions.

What should I bear in mind after Sculptra® treatment?

As a rule, you will receive an exclusive skincare set from us, which includes in particular a high-quality moisturizing face cream. You should apply this several times in the first few days and massage the treated facial region according to a special scheme.

The rule of 5 applies, i.e. massage 5 times a day for 5 minutes for 5 days. You will receive more detailed information from us.

Avoid direct sunlight, hot baths, saunas or intensive sports for a few days. To minimize the risk of infection or irritation, we advise you to avoid make-up for at least 24–48 hours after the treatment.

How many treatments are needed and how much does Sculptra® treatment cost?

Results are achieved after the very first treatment, but due to the gradual process of the body's own collagen production, you will only notice them after several weeks and months. To achieve a long-term and lasting result, several sessions a few weeks apart are therefore strongly advisable.

As a rough guideline, you should plan at least 2 treatments at age 30, at least 3 from age 40, 4 at age 50 and 5 sessions at age 60 in order to achieve an optimal result.

Depending on the size of the area to be treated and thus the amount of product required, the costs per session are €650 and higher

What are the risks of Sculptra® treatment?

In the hands of trained specialists, Sculptra® treatment is generally very low-risk; nevertheless, as with any injection treatment, typical self-limiting phenomena such as temporary swelling, skin redness and small bruises can occur despite the greatest care. Very rarely, undesired accumulations of product can lead to nodules under the skin or skin unevenness. However, this can largely be avoided by appropriate massage of the skin after the treatment, done by you yourself.
