Your path to beautiful legs and firm skin

The thigh lift is a highly specialized plastic and aesthetic operation to help you achieve a harmonious and aesthetic leg contour and firm thighs. Weight fluctuations, major weight loss, but also aging processes or a congenital weakness of the connective tissue can cause the already very thin skin on the inner thighs to be overstrained and eventually to sag. Typical signs of laxity and tissue damage are then often found, such as stretch marks (striae), which are an important indication of the loss of elasticity and make the legs look older than they really are. The excess skin can be so pronounced that those affected suffer painful pinching of the skin or skin rashes (eczema) from the inner thighs constantly rubbing together. As a result, there are significant restrictions in everyday life and during sports, suitable clothing cannot be found, or certain clothes are avoided in order to cover the thigh region as much as possible. It is more than understandable that such restrictions affect the psyche and well-being.
A thigh lift is requested not only by women but increasingly by men as well, which demonstrates its importance, the level of distress and the desire for a harmonious leg contour and smooth thigh skin.

In my practice in Stuttgart, I offer particularly gentle thigh lift and leg lift techniques that include liposuction, with the aim of restoring your leg contour and reducing possible surgical risks as much as possible. You will find further details in the following sections.

Indications and effectiveness of the thigh lift

The thigh lift aims to improve the contour of the thighs by removing excess skin on the inner thighs and by removing remaining fat deposits. This lifting method is particularly effective for patients who suffer from an uneven leg profile due to major weight reduction or congenital or age-related skin laxity, or who are bothered by excess skin on the thighs. Ideal conditions exist when there are as few larger fat deposits as possible and excess skin is the predominant problem. This allows much better tightening and reduces risks. As a result, we achieve a firmer and smoother skin structure over the entire thighs and especially on the inner thighs, which in turn leads to an aesthetically pleasing and harmonious appearance of the legs as a whole.

Methods and techniques of the thigh lift

In my Stuttgart practice, a wide variety of thigh lift techniques are used, depending on the individual circumstances and needs of my patients. The options are discussed in detail in the personal consultation and during the physical examination, and an individual treatment concept is worked out for you.
A frequently used method is the combination of liposuction and lifting, which makes it possible to reduce localized fatty tissue on the inner thighs down to the knees and then tighten the skin (= hybrid technique). This integrative approach promises an optimal result with harmonious contours combined with the best possible healing. This procedure and other modern surgical techniques protect the surrounding blood vessels, lymph vessels and nerves as well as possible, which above all drastically reduces the risk of complications such as bruising (hematomas), chronic swelling, numbness or even wound healing problems after the operation. Contrary to some assumptions, in this combined procedure liposuction is performed exclusively within the excess tissue that will later be removed and into the transitions to neighboring areas of skin.

Consultation and surgical planning

Before the thigh lift, I carry out a detailed consultation and examination in order to analyze the condition of your tissue, the quality of your skin and possible risks, and to derive the best possible treatment concept from this. Of course, your needs and expectations, which we discuss openly, are also taken into account. By demonstrating the changes to be expected after a thigh lift, all your questions should be answered and any unfounded worries and concerns dispelled. The aim of your consultation should be to enable you to reach a well-founded and balanced decision. On the day of the operation, the markings are made while you are standing. The so-called lifting pattern is defined on the thighs, which determines the later course of the scars. Depending on the extent of tissue laxity and excess tissue on the thighs, the subsequent scar runs strictly on the inner side (like a waistband) and is continued into the groin or towards the knees if necessary, so that it can heal as unobtrusively as possible in accordance with the standards of aesthetic surgery.

Postoperative care and healing process

After the operation, a very important phase begins: aftercare. It is at least as decisive for the final result as the surgical tightening of the thighs itself. It includes consistently wearing compression garments to reduce swelling, bring detached layers of skin back together and support healing through improved lymph flow. Regular follow-up examinations take place in my practice to document the healing process and react in good time if necessary. My patients receive detailed instructions on scar care and tips on how to improve their healing process through appropriate physical activity and support it through a suitable lifestyle and diet.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about thigh lifts

Who is suitable for a thigh lift?

The treatment is suitable for people who suffer from sagging thigh skin as a result of major weight loss, age-related skin laxity or weak connective tissue. Even if there is also excess subcutaneous fatty tissue on the inner thighs, a thigh lift can contribute significantly to the desired leg contour.

How is a thigh lift performed?

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. The tissue to be removed is usually first thinned out by liposuction using the water-jet technique (WAL) and the excess skin is then removed. This thigh lift technique allows the best possible protection of the structures running along the inner sides, such as blood vessels, nerves and lymph vessels, which drastically reduces possible complications.

What are the risks of a thigh lift?

The risks include bruising, swelling and temporary changes in sensation, which I explain in detail in the consultation. Meticulous wound hygiene is particularly important in the groin area and near the intimate area. Moisture and excessive mechanical strain (e.g. from walking too much) must be avoided at all costs in the early phase after the operation.

How long does it take to heal after a thigh lift?

Complete healing and the final result develop over several weeks. Wound healing usually takes 2–3 weeks, while swelling takes some time longer to subside completely. Compression treatment with compression pants and, if necessary, lymphatic drainage for at least six weeks after the operation is of particular importance. Scar care, scar massage and sun protection should also be continued over a period of 12 months to ensure optimal scar healing. After 6 weeks, you can usually resume your normal activities completely.

Can the thigh lift be combined with other procedures?

Yes, a combination with other aesthetic procedures, such as an arm lift, breast lift or liposuction, is possible depending on the individual situation, risk profile and estimated total operating time. The risks and benefits of a combined operation must always be weighed up.

How much does an arm lift cost?

The costs of a thigh lift must be determined individually and depend on the estimated effort and technique and thus the duration of the operation. If liposuction is performed in addition to the lift, the costs are correspondingly higher. You can expect costs from approx. €6,500 plus anesthesia and overnight stay. For very small amounts of excess skin, the costs are of course lower. In the personal consultation, the costs are presented to you with maximum transparency.
