Your otoplasty in Sindelfingen
Show contents
If you are bothered by protruding ears or the shape of your earlobes, they can be permanently pinned back or corrected by surgical ear correction (otoplasty). Such a procedure can often help those affected, whether children, adolescents or adults, to gain significantly more self-confidence and thus quality of life, as protruding ears often lead to teasing or taunts from others.
Depending on the shape of the ear and the underlying problem, different and very fine surgical techniques are used. Most often, the incision is made behind the ear, through which the cartilage framework of the ear can be shaped gently and precisely.
Special suture techniques are used to stabilize the auricle in its newly corrected position. In the same surgical session, corrections to the earlobe can also be made (e.g. earlobes torn by earrings). Ear correction is equally possible for children and adults, but in children the procedure should ideally take place shortly before starting school and only under general anesthesia. Otherwise, the operation can optionally also be performed under local anesthesia with twilight sedation and takes about 90–120 min depending on the surgical effort.
