Premium implants with polyurethane coating / lightweight implants (B-Lite)

No drains, quick recovery, natural results

The wish for breast augmentation (augmentation mammaplasty) is one of the most frequently requested procedures in my practice and forms a key focus of my surgical work. The reasons for changing the shape of the breasts are very diverse. Many women suffer from breasts that are generally too small, because the breasts did not develop accordingly during puberty or developed abnormally (e.g. tubular breasts). This then often also leads to differences in size or various shape abnormalities. A beautifully shaped but too small bust may also not match the overall appearance of your body. Other reasons are changes after pregnancy and breastfeeding or due to intensive strength training, which can be accompanied by sagging and/or a loss of breast volume.

Depending on the initial situation, combined procedures such as a simultaneous breast lift or correction of the areola or nipples are also possible or advisable.

As the needs regarding a change in shape are highly individual, an equally individual and detailed consultation is required. In the personal consultation, I will address your wishes in great detail, explain all the options to you and work out the best solution together with you.

My patients' wishes are increasingly moving towards a natural look, something I myself attach great importance to. So if you would like a result that is as natural as possible and suits your body, you will find an open door with me.

With more than 13 years of experience in breast surgery and several years of practice at clinics and practices specializing in breast shaping, I am at your side as a competent expert for breast augmentation in the Stuttgart area. Thanks to my many years of comprehensive training in Germany and abroad, including at the renowned breast center in St. Gallen, Switzerland, you can be sure that I will meet all your questions about breast shaping or breast corrections with comprehensive specialist expertise and lead you safely to your goal.

Through constant refinement, whether in preparation, during the operation, in cooperation with the anesthesia team or in aftercare, I offer you an overall concept with which you can pursue your wish for breast augmentation with full confidence and trust.

Alternative ways to augment the breasts – autologous fat

Breast augmentation with silicone implants is still the gold standard. There is a reason for this, because high-quality, shape-stable implants offer you an immediate and, above all, reliable method of achieving your desired breast volume and shape.
Alternatively, I can also offer you the option of changing volume and shape by means of autologous fat transfer (lipofilling) or a combination of both techniques.
This is then referred to as hybrid breast augmentation, which can achieve particularly soft and natural transitions.
The fat cells are usually harvested from the lower abdominal region or the outer thigh region by liposuction and then gently processed for transplantation using a special procedure. With gentle movements, the fat is then injected multidimensionally via a cannula in front of and behind the mammary gland tissue, taking care to distribute the fat cells as evenly as possible so that they can connect to the blood vessels and thus to nutrients. As the fat cells are very fragile before they heal in, it is understandable that an arbitrarily large quantity of fat cells cannot be injected in one session, because the sensitive cells can only tolerate a little pressure or mechanical stress. This also explains why, even with great experience and the gentlest handling of tissue, a certain proportion of the fat cells injected into the breast never heals in, and why several sessions are often required to achieve a certain volume or a shape adjustment with a symmetrical result. Once the fat has healed in, however, you benefit from all the advantages of your own tissue, which is very similar to natural breast tissue, follows your personal weight fluctuations and ages with you.

Which procedure is possible and, above all, sensible for you can be answered during your consultation and physical examination. You should of course have a certain amount of fat pads. Regular nicotine consumption, on the other hand, is difficult to reconcile with autologous fat transfer, regardless of where it is injected. A precise analysis of the conditions that you bring as a patient is therefore required. If these are favorable, autologous fat treatment can be a suitable alternative or complement to the silicone implant, especially if a moderate breast augmentation (about one cup size) is desired, if asymmetries need to be evened out or for minor shape corrections.
I have many years of experience in autologous fat treatment for both reconstructive and aesthetic purposes and have already given several scientific lectures on the limits and possibilities of lipotransfer.

Surgical technique

Numerous surgical techniques have been described, for example regarding the access through which a silicone implant is inserted, where the implant is positioned (in front of or behind the muscle) and whether round or teardrop-shaped (anatomical) implants make sense. There are numerous aspects to consider here. Of course, it is important that your surgeon uses a technique that he masters safely, ideally several. But there is certainly no single implant or technique that is the solution for all requirements, and the credo “the result is what counts” is not enough either. Your aesthetic ideas and wishes and your individual requirements in everyday life or during sports are the priority. My responsibility as a specialist is to compare these with the conditions you bring as a patient and check their feasibility, so that I can give you realistic expectations.

I still come across major differences when it comes to handling tissue as gently as possible, using special surgical instruments, for example to reduce the risk of bleeding, and strictly adhering to hygiene standards during surgery. These aspects have a considerable impact not only on your safety and the risk of possible complications (e.g. capsular contracture) but also on the durability of the surgical result.
In many cases, the use of drains is just as unnecessary as wearing special compression bras. Although this must be weighed up in each individual case and depending on the type and position of the implant, it cannot be generally recommended. Not infrequently, this leads to further problems such as unnecessary pain, bleeding or general restrictions. These and many other factors largely determine how quickly you can move around in everyday life again without impairment, go about your daily activities, whether you have little or severe pain after breast augmentation and how quickly you can return to work.

For me, modern breast surgery means

No drains, gentle surgical technique, little pain, quick recovery with few restrictions, natural and stable results

With regard to the surgical access route, it can be said in advance that the inframammary fold has become established worldwide as the safest access for inserting silicone implants, even though, as always, each procedure has advantages and disadvantages, which I will of course be happy to explain to you. With normal wound healing, the fear of wide, long scars is unfounded, and modern surgical techniques always aim to be scar-sparing anyway. Many colleagues advertise particularly short skin incisions or terms such as “minimally invasive”, but do not explain how much strain is placed on the tissue, for example when inserting the implants, or how much control the surgeon loses in the surgical area, which can ultimately lead to unsightly scars and irreparable internal tissue damage. So always remain alert to such statements and ask critical questions, because different implants sometimes require access routes of different sizes. Experience shows, however, that with good planning the resulting scar can be placed almost exactly in the inframammary fold and, with consistent scar care and massage and protection from UV exposure during the scar maturation period of up to twelve months, it heals very inconspicuously in most cases.

With regard to implant position, depending on the initial situation, there are various aspects such as tissue thickness, the shape of the chest or the breast itself that must be taken into account to ensure the most natural and optimal treatment result possible, and that ultimately speak for or against a position in front of or behind the large pectoral muscle or for a particular type of implant. I will explain all these and other important aspects to you in detail and give you an individual concept tailored to you that on the one hand comes closest to your wishes and on the other hand always keeps your health and safety and the goal of the most harmonious result possible in focus.

Implants

All reputable and well-known implant manufacturers now use leak-proof and shape-stable (cohesive) silicone gel as the filling substance and usually give a lifetime guarantee on the implants. They also meet the necessary safety standards with certifications as medical devices, such as CE marking and various DIN standards. Unfortunately, the use of such implants is still not a matter of course, which continues to lead to major problems to this day. In your own interest, do not be tempted by low treatment costs and go into a consultation prepared and critical.

Out of medical responsibility towards you as a patient, but also as a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery and a member of national and international professional associations, I feel obliged to offer only implants from well-known, internationally leading manufacturers without exception. For years, I have used exclusively implants from POLYTECH, a German company that is subject to the strictest safety controls and offers particularly high product quality and the widest range of breast implants. This guarantees you the greatest possible safety with regard to implant quality and builds further trust thanks to transparent information from the manufacturer about the place of production and the production chain.

Thanks to my long experience in breast augmentation, I can not only offer you all common types of implants but also have particular expertise in the use of PU (polyurethane)-coated implants and the very light B-Lite implants. Although these innovative implants are not the solution for every need, they have outstanding properties, which I will be happy to explain to you in a personal consultation and compare with conventional smooth and textured surfaces. You therefore benefit from the entire portfolio of options and have the choice. There are few aesthetic plastic surgeons in Germany with corresponding experience with polyurethane-coated implants or B-Lite implants.

Surgical planning

The personal consultation is followed by a detailed analysis with physical examination and measurements, taking into account your physique and your proportions. I will draw your attention to various important aspects that must be considered, for example, when choosing a suitable implant with regard to your desired volume or shape. This also includes trying on trial implants (sizers), which, unlike the highly praised 3D simulations, allow you to get a realistic picture of the expected breast volume in front of the mirror – with or without your partner. Thanks to this precise analysis, many possible doubts and uncertainties can be dispelled in advance. This detailed consultation concept not only benefits your safety but also builds trust in terms of realistic expectations of a treatment result. The decision is ultimately yours, and I will be happy to guide you to it. If I ever advise you against a particular type of implant or implant volume, there is a reason for it. The most important thing is that you feel in good hands and can trust me, because it is about your body and your health.

Follow-up treatment

Planning and performing breast augmentation is not enough on its own. After the operation, I will support you for 1 year. During this aftercare period, you may and should always contact me with all your questions, including by phone, even outside the agreed and regular follow-up appointments. Think of me as a reliable partner and companion who, like you, is interested in an optimal result and will therefore give you all the recommendations and tips along the way. This also means that I depend on your cooperation in following these recommendations. This includes, for example, what you should avoid in the first days, weeks and months and what you can do without any problems. You will find a lot of information on this website, and I will also give you a corresponding document after the operation.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about breast augmentation

Where does the operation take place?

Your greatest possible safety and health, as well as a high level of comfort, are very close to my heart. That is why I work with selected private clinics in the Stuttgart area, which on the one hand offer you the highest medical standards and hygiene guidelines and the best possible medical care, and on the other hand guarantee you the greatest possible comfort for your well-being during your stay. Depending on availability, you benefit from single rooms with private bathrooms, are competently and caringly looked after by medical and non-medical specialist staff, and are always in the best hands, even in the unlikely event of a medical problem. I will visit you before and after the operation and regularly ask how you are. Should it ever be necessary, the entire staff and I are also available at night. So you can relax completely.

How can I prepare for my operation?

Sensible preparation for the operation begins with letting your loved ones, your family, friends or the person you trust know in good time that you will have to take things very easy for around a week after the operation. As we cannot issue you a sick note ourselves, you will usually have to take vacation days. So plan in good time to be able to take some time out.

For mothers of young children in particular, it is important to secure support from your partner, the grandparents or friends in advance with regard to the choice of operation date. Leaving this question unresolved leads to unnecessary stress and is by no means conducive to wound healing, a quick recovery and ultimately your result.
When you can return to work depends largely on your occupation. Light administrative work can usually be resumed after one week; strenuous activities such as skilled trades, elderly care and nursing require a longer break. Ideally, schedule your preferred date at the beginning of a planned vacation.

Also be sure to stop taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin (ASA, acetylsalicylic acid), e.g. for headaches, in good time before the date of the operation. In good time means at least 14 days before (!) the date of surgery. Other blood-thinning medications such as heparin or Marcumar must also be stopped or, if necessary, switched in good time in consultation with your family doctor.

It is just as important to be certain that everything is fine with your breasts. For your own safety, I will therefore always ask you to provide me with the most recent possible examination findings of your breasts from your gynecologist shortly before your operation (ideally an ultrasound examination, and a mammogram if appropriate for women aged 50 and over).

Current blood values from your family doctor, in particular the coagulation values and a few other values, are also indispensable before an operation can go ahead.

If you smoke, you should stop your nicotine consumption completely for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the operation, as nicotine can have a very unfavorable effect on the healing process.

How can I prepare my home for the first few days after the operation?

  • Have a few comfortable pillows ready so that you can lie and sleep with your upper body raised for the first few days
  • Get a few soft, commercially available cooling pads that you can place around the lower part of your breasts after the operation. In many cases, this relieves any feeling of tightness and helps prevent swelling
  • Severe pain is very rare, but nevertheless make sure you have enough painkillers at home so that, in the unlikely event of stronger pain, you are not “chasing the pain” but can give your body the rest it needs. Paracetamol 500 mg for the first few days and ibuprofen 400 mg from the third day are both available without a prescription and are usually completely sufficient. (I will of course give you specific dosage instructions)
  • Arrange in advance for someone to walk your dog, for example, as you should keep your arms, and therefore your chest muscles, away from heavy pulling and strain for at least the first few weeks
  • The most important thing is and remains physical rest, which also prevents painful swelling and unnecessary muscle irritation, for example. Give your body this time – after all, you want to be fit again quickly
  • You will receive further recommendations in our personal consultation

What should I bring for my operation?

For your stay, it is best to pack a sports bag or a small trolley with the essentials such as toiletries, dark, loose, non-tight clothing, a pajama top that buttons at the front if possible, your smartphone and whatever else you need to get by. It is best to leave jewelry and other valuables at home; please remove all piercings and, in times of coronavirus, please do not forget your face mask. Please do not apply lotion or other skin care products on the day of the operation. This would make it unnecessarily difficult to apply the planning markings on the day of surgery.

What happens after the operation?

If the operation is planned on an outpatient basis, I will hold the discharge consultation with you on the same day after sufficient recovery, carry out a final dressing change if necessary and give you all the necessary documents and recommendations for the way ahead and for home. In the case of an inpatient stay (usually for 1 night), the discharge consultation usually takes place on the morning of the following day. Depending on the type of implant and surgical method, I will also give you a suitable support bra, although in many cases this is not necessary.

What should I bear in mind after my operation?

For the next 6 weeks, you must refrain from sporting activities such as jogging, cycling, horse riding, trampolining, chest muscle training, EMS and the like. You should also strictly avoid lifting heavy loads >5 kg or strenuous overhead work. Mothers of small children are advised to organize appropriate support in advance.

Only with certain implants must a support bra and possibly a Stuttgart belt be worn for the entire period of 6 weeks. With PU/B-Lite implants, this is generally not necessary.

Activities such as walking or isolated squats (if indispensable) as well as non-strenuous everyday tasks can, on the other hand, be resumed quickly. So you are not bedridden – on the contrary – your body and circulation will be glad after the anesthesia if you gradually get them going again with fresh air and gentle activity.

How are the costs of breast augmentation made up?

The final treatment costs depend on your wishes regarding the choice of implant and whether you want to make use of the option of an overnight stay in the private clinic. If the journey there and back is reasonable (up to approx. 3 hours), the operation can in principle also be performed on an outpatient basis. The starting price for breast augmentation with smooth round implants is €4,200 including a support bra, plus anesthesia services and overnight costs. For teardrop-shaped textured implants and if polyurethane-coated implants or B-Lite implants are desired, the costs start at €5,100. Regardless of this, taking out follow-up cost insurance is highly recommended.
